With four wins out of seven matches, the Gujarat Titans hold an edge over the Delhi Capitals in the TATA IPL.
Our boys have kicked off this year’s TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) with intent and promise. In our previous outing the Titans delivered a strong batting performance but fell short in a nail-biting contest against the Rajasthan Royals. With focus shifting ahead, the squad gears up with a strong mindset as we travel to the Arun Jaitley Stadium to take on Delhi Capitals on April 08 at 7:30 PM IST.
In our last match, the Royals won the toss and elected to bat first. After facing an onslaught from their batters in the first 15 overs, our bowling attack made a strong comeback and restricted the Royals to 210/6. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers, clinching two crucial scalps. Mohammed Siraj, Ashok Sharma, Prasidh Krishna and stand-in skipper Rashid Khan chipped in with a wicket each.
Unfortunately, our skipper Shubman Gill had to sit out of this contest due to back spasms and was replaced in the playing XI by our talented youngster Kumar Kushagra. In the chase, Sai Su and Kushagra gave a flying start before Buttler added to the momentum after Kushagra's departure.
However, after Sudharsan's magnificent knock of 73 (44) came to an end, our wickets kept tumbling through the middle overs. Rashid Khan and KG then built a vital partnership, bringing us close to a remarkable chase. Apart from Sai's brilliant batting display, Buttler 26 (14), Rashid 24 (16) and Rabada 23 (16) made valuable contributions and kept us in the hunt. In the end, we fell short by 6 runs.
Heading into the upcoming contest, there are plenty of positives to focus on. Our all-rounder Rashid Khan is in great form with both bat and ball, while Sai Sudharsan looked in good touch with a classy innings against Rajasthan. Moreover, our young sensation Ashok Sharma has impressed with his express pace, having clocked the fastest delivery of the TATA IPL 2026. He delivered a top speed of 154.2 km/h against the Royals, making it exciting to see what lies ahead in our next game against the Delhi Capitals.
As we prepare for this showdown against Delhi Capitals, star opener Sai Sudharsan looked in great touch during the nets, leaving the fans eager to see what he produces next.
Against Delhi Capitals, Mr. Consistent has been a run machine at the top. Sai Sudharsan has bossed this fixture with 283 runs in just five innings, including a match-winning unbeaten 108 in the 2025 season. Which underlines his class, consistency and composure.
Off the field, both camps are in high spirits and it's a delight to see Indian teammates KL Rahul and Sai Su sharing a light moment filled with warmth and positivity. The DC wicket-keeper batter also had a chat with our Batting Coach Haydos, though we’re all hoping he wasn’t sneakily fishing for batting tips before the showdown.
It is also heartwarming to see David Miller reunite with our Head Coach Ashish Nehra and former Titans teammates, reflecting the strong bond and memories built over the years.

Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, are in great form, having registered consecutive wins over Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians.
In their upcoming clash, Delhi boast a strong bowling unit consisting of Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and T Natarajan, making them a well-rounded attack. Complementing the bowling unit, their batting line-up has good firepower, featuring the likes of KL Rahul, David Miller, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs, with a balanced mix of experience and youth.
