As many as seven Titans have been included in India’s Test squad, while four Titans have been named in the 15-man ODI squad against Afghanistan, starting on June 6.
Our captain Shubman Gill will continue to lead the Indian cricket team’s Test and ODI squads against Afghanistan, starting on June 6.
Our Titans, Manav Suthar and Gurnoor Brar have received their maiden Test call-ups, alongside bowling all-rounder Harsh Dubey.
Mr. Consistent Sai Sudharsan, our premier speedsters Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and all-rounder Washington Sundar have also been included for the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul has been appointed India’s new vice-captain for the one-off Test, scheduled to be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
Additionally, our young fast bowler Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey have also received their first-ever ODI call-ups. Prasidh and Washington, alongside skipper Gill, are the other three Titans in the ODI squad. Talented right-arm fast bowler Prince Yadav has bagged his maiden call-up in the ODI set-up.
On the other hand, flamboyant batter Shreyas Iyer will once again be Gill’s deputy in the three-match 50-over series.
Stalwarts Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya have also been included for the forthcoming ODI series at home. However, Rohit and Pandya’s participation in the series will depend on fitness clearance from the BCCI.
Talking about notable absentees, India’s bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been rested due to workload management.
As per the ODI schedule, the first game will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on June 14.
India and Afghanistan will then travel to Lucknow for the second ODI scheduled at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on June 17.
The series will conclude with the third and final ODI being held at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on June 20.
