With the ODI series tied 1-1, the Indian cricket team will be aiming to deliver a strong performance in the third and final game against New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, January 18. The match will start at 1:30 PM IST.
Under Shubman Gill’s leadership, India will look to quickly bounce back after suffering a seven-wicket defeat against the Black Caps in Rajkot on Wednesday.
Put in to bat, captain Gill once again led from the front with a scintillating half-century (56), which included nine fours and one six to set-up a solid foundation for the batters to follow. Later, India’s wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul slammed an unbeaten 112 off just 92 balls to help the hosts post 284/7 in their 50 overs.
Defending 284, Harshit Rana and Gujarat Titans pacer Prasidh Krishna picked up early wickets at the Niranjan Shah Stadium. However, it wasn’t enough as New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell (131 not out) and Will Young (87) produced match-winning knocks to help the Kiwis force a series decider.
Earlier, India rode on an impressive all-round performance to beat the visitors by four wickets in the first ODI in Vadodara.
