Gujarat Titans’ quartet of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj will be in action in the second Test against West Indies in Delhi.
After a commanding victory in the first Test, the Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team will aim to clinch the two-match Test series against the West Indies in the second and final Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, starting on Friday, October 10. The IND vs WI second Test will start at 9:30 AM IST.
Under the astute leadership of captain Shubman Gill, India kicked off their home season with a dominant win over the Caribbean outfit by an innings and 140 runs at the Titans’ fortress, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Titans’ star pacer Mohammed Siraj continued his brilliant form as he breathed fire to help India skittle out West Indies for 162 in 44.1 overs after the visitors opted to bat first. Siraj finished with outstanding figures of 4/40 in the first innings to put the hosts in a great position. Apart from Siraj, his bowling partner Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets for 42 runs. Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with two wickets, while Titans all-rounder Washington Sundar contributed with one crucial scalp.
In reply, wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel (125), Ravindra Jadeja (104*) and KL Rahul (100) slammed scintillating centuries, along with skipper Gill’s spectacular fifty as India declared their first innings at 448/5.
Later, the West Indies once again produced another disappointing batting performance as they were bowled out for 146 in 45.1 overs to succumb to an innings defeat. Jadeja was the wrecker-in-chief in the second innings with 4/54, while Siraj claimed three scalps to wrap up the game with seven wickets in total. Our very own, Washington, also added one to his wickets tally in the second innings, while Kuldeep managed two more to power the hosts to a magnificent victory.
Having registered a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, Shubman and his men are currently placed third in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-2027 points table with three wins, two losses and one draw.
Overall, India have a decent record at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India have won 14 of the 35 Test matches at the iconic venue. They have recorded 15 draws, while suffering six defeats at the Kotla.
Interestingly, India and the West Indies have squared off on seven occasions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in cricket’s longest format. India have managed just a solitary victory, while the visitors have registered two wins. As many as four Test matches between these two cricketing nations have ended drawn.
