Shubman scored his second Test century to lead India’s charge against Australia in the fourth Test at Ahmedabad.
Home is where the heart is! Ask Shubman Gill. The young Titan smashed his second Test century during the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. As India faced a big total, Shubman held fort for his team from the beginning – combining the typical grace with a lot of solidity. For the Titans FAM, this is a special knock as he continues to create great moments at our home – the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
During the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 final last year, Shubman showed remarkable composure in front of a record crowd as Gujarat Titans eyed history. He took us closer and closer to the win and the winning six was the icing on the cake. The picture of Shubman roaring after the winning hit and the crowd rising in the background is set in the heart of the Titans Fam!
Shubman then returned to the Home Stadium early last month and smashed his maiden T20 International century – which also is the highest score for an Indian in the format. That innings combined his usual elegance with an aggressive intent. It was proof of his growth as a batter in all formats of the game – having scored centuries in Tests and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in the months leading up to it.
As India are searching for a victory in the fourth Test at Ahmedabad, Shubman has helped set a solid foundation. This is his first Test century at home in India – and his first against Australia. Back in 2021, he had played a special role in the famous victory at the Gabba – missing out on a century. However, he has now got that ton against one of India’s rivals on the big stage.
