Towering in stature and experience, Ishant Sharma, fondly known as “Lambu”, has been a pillar of Indian fast bowling for over a decade. He made his Ranji Trophy debut at just 18 and broke into the Indian Test team in 2007, quickly grabbing attention with a memorable spell to Ricky Ponting during the 2007–08 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Ishant continued to rise on the international stage, finishing as India’s highest wicket-taker in the 2008 Commonwealth Bank Series with 14 wickets. In the IPL, he has also produced standout performances, including a brilliant five-wicket haul for Deccan Chargers in 2012.
He played a key role in India’s 2013 Champions Trophy triumph, claiming 10 wickets in the tournament, and delivered one of his most iconic spells in 2014 at Lord’s, where his 7-wicket haul against England helped India secure a historic victory. In 2021, Ishant reached the milestone of 300 Test wickets, further cementing his legacy in Indian cricket. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2020.
An IPL veteran with experience across multiple franchises, Ishant brings not just skill and leadership but also a great sense of humour and a strong mentoring presence in the dressing room. Known for guiding younger bowlers and lifting the team atmosphere, he now adds valuable experience and character to the Gujarat Titans squad for IPL 2026.
