It’s time to shake off the Monday blues as action returns to the Narendra Modi Stadium, for a blockbuster clash against the Mumbai Indians on April 20 at 7:30 PM IST.
We head into this contest riding high on confidence after a thrilling five-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, marking our third consecutive victory this season. With momentum firmly on our side, our focus now shifts to keeping the winning run intact against an MI side eager to bounce back.
In our last outing, our bowlers set the tone early. Kagiso Rabada led the charge with an impressive 3/29, while Mohammed Siraj, Ashok Sharma, Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan chipped in to bowl KKR out for 180.
Chasing the target, our skipper, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan gave us a flying start in the Powerplay. Gill led from the front with a commanding 86 off 50 deliveries, while useful contributions from Jos Buttler and Sai Su kept us on track. In the end, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia held their nerve to seal the win with two balls to spare.
As we host MI on Monday, our sights are set on bagging two points at home and strengthening our position on the points table. Gill has been a standout performer in this rivalry, amassing 356 runs in eight matches, including his memorable 129 in the 2023 playoffs. Alongside him, Rashid continues to be a game-changer, with 11 wickets against MI, including one of his best IPL figures of 4/30. Being an exceptional all-rounder that he is, his unbeaten 79 in that same game remains one of the most electrifying all-round displays we have witnessed against Mumbai.
