While it is certainly not how we wanted to wrap up our season, the 2026 campaign will forever go down in our history as we reached our third final, showing our dominance since our introduction in the TATA IPL in 2022.

Earlier, in front of our home fans at the Gujaratno Gadh, Washington Sundar hogged the limelight with an unbeaten half-century in the final to power us to 155/8 in our 20 overs.

Later, our bowlers fought hard till the very end, however, it wasn’t enough as RCB chased down the target in 18 overs to successfully defend their TATA IPL crown.

Here’s how the TATA IPL 2026 final unravelled at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium:

A challenging start

Sai Su got us off to a good start as he hit Jacob Duffy for two scintillating boundaries in the opening over.

Captain Gill soon joined the party as he mesmerised the home fans with a glorious cover drive off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the following over. However, we soon succumbed to huge blows as Gill and Sai Su departed in quick succession.

Despite losing two early wickets, Jos Buttler and Nishant Sindhu played some exquisite shots to put the pressure back on RCB bowlers. Our Titans were 45/2 at the end of the Powerplay.

Washi & Arshad stitched crucial partnership

Buttler and Sindhu added 29 runs for the third wicket, before our southpaw fell for 20, in search of quick runs in the eighth over.

At 55/3, Washington walked out to bat and joined Buttler at the crease. The duo kept the scoreboard ticking. However, looking to up the ante, Buttler then lost his wicket to Krunal.

Later, in the 13th over, Arshad hit Krunal for the first maximum of the TATA IPL 2026 final. Washi then slammed Duffy for back-to-back boundaries, while Arshad hit another six to accumulate 16 runs in the next over. The quick-fire 26-run stand came to an end as Arshad departed for 15.

Washi’s fifty powered Titans to 155

At the other end, Washi continued his superb knock under pressure, despite losing Rahul Tewatia after his short stay.

Washi and Holder later slammed Hazlewood for 16 runs, laced with three boundaries in the 18th over. Meanwhile, Washi completed 500 runs for the Titans in the TATA IPL.

Miyan, KG bagged huge breakthroughs

Defending 155, our Titans were off to a tough start as Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli established a 62-run opening stand. DSP Siraj later provided us with the much-needed breakthrough as he removed Iyer (32) in the fifth over.

At the start of the following over, Rabada soon brought us right back into the game as he dismissed Devdutt Padikkal (1). With his 29th wicket this season, Rabada reclaimed the Purple Cap.

Rashid, Arshad shone in the middle overs

Later, in the ninth over, our spin wizard Rashid Khan bamboozled RCB captain Rajat Patidar (15), and then trapped Krunal Pandya (1) in front of the stumps to reduce RCB to 91/4, which kept us in the fight for the coveted title.

In a spot of bother, Tim David and Kohli forged a crucial partnership in the middle. The duo added 41 runs before Arshad removed David in the 14th over.

Proud of our Titans - A season to remember

While our bowlers fought hard till the very end, Kohli played a match-winning knock of an unbeaten 75 to guide RCB to a five-wicket win and help them claim their second title.

Despite the heartbreaking defeat in the final, it was a memorable season for us, filled with positives and unforgettable memories.

While our season ends here, we promise we will be back next season, better and stronger. Until next time, Titans FAM!
