Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a scintillating half-century (70), while Jos Buttler (52) and Washington Sundar (55) slammed blistering fifties to power us to 210/4 in our 20 overs.

Later, our spin wizard Rashid Khan produced a magical spell of 3/17, while Prasidh ‘Skiddy’ Krishna bagged two crucial wickets to guide us to a nail-biting one-run win.

Here’s how the game panned out at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi:

Jos the Boss unleashed carnage

Our stylish opening duo of Sudharsan and Captain Gill got us off to a good start. Sai Su slammed Mukesh Kumar for a boundary on the very first ball, before our skipper joined the party as he hit an exquisite boundary to accumulate 11 runs in the first over. Sudharsan looked in great touch before he fell in the third over.

Batting at No.3, our flamboyant wicketkeeper-batter Buttler took little time to settle as he soon clobbered Mukesh for a huge maximum. He later welcomed opposition captain Axar Patel with a classy boundary and then smashed him for a massive six.

Buttler continued the onslaught as he smacked Mukesh for three sixes and a four to amass 23 runs in the fifth over. Our Titans raced to 68/1 in the first six overs, registering our third-highest score in the Powerplay.

Following Buttler’s dismissal, captain Gill and Washington stitched a magnificent partnership for the third wicket. Gill and Washi continued the assault with a flurry of boundaries, including hammering Vipraj Nigam for two fours and two sixes to pile up 23 runs in the 12th over.

Gill, Washi slammed fifties

Later, in the 15th over, our talisman Gill continued his super knock as he brought up his 27th half-century in the TATA IPL.

Gill later hammered Kuldeep Yadav for two sixes, before he departed for a well-made 70 off just 45 balls.

At the other end, Washi hogged the spotlight with a blitzkrieg knock as he recorded his maiden TATA IPL fifty in the 19th over.

While Washi fell for 55 in the final over, Glenn Phillips’ unbeaten cameo of 14 powered us to 210/4.

Prasidh provided our first breakthrough

Defending 210, our bowlers were off to a challenging start as Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul added 76 runs for the opening wicket.

However, Prasidh provided us with the much-needed breakthrough as he dismissed Nissanka (41) in the ninth over.

Rashid’s wizardry stunned the Capitals’ batters

Our spin wizard Rashid Khan brought us right back into the game with back-to-back wickets in the 10th over. Rashid bagged the huge scalp of Nitish Rana (5), courtesy of a sensational catch by Sai Su. He then bamboozled Sameer Rizvi (0) on the very next ball to shatter his stumps.

Rashid continued his outstanding spell as he got the better of Axar (2) to reduce the Capitals to 134/4 in the 14th over. Our spin maestro finished his spell with brilliant figures of 3/17.

First W of the season

Later, in a game-changing moment, Sai Su pulled off a direct-hit run out that sent Tristan Stubbs (7) back in the pavilion.

In the final few overs, David Miller and Vipraj forged a vital seventh-wicket partnership, which kept the Capitals in the game.

However, defending 12 runs in the final over, Prasidh held his nerve as he removed Vipraj (12) on the second ball, while Buttler's stunning run out of Kuldeep on the final delivery helped us clinch a thriller and secure our first win of the season.
