Our Titans star Shubman Gill has added another remarkable accolade to his illustrious cricket career, clinching the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for September 2026. With this achievement, Gill becomes the first male cricketer to win this prestigious award five times.
The Indian Test and ODI captain earned this achievement following a sensational run in the recently concluded ODI series against West Indies. Gill amassed a mind-boggling 334 runs in three innings, including a brilliant century and a record-breaking double century.
Shubman leads India to an iconic ODI series win against West Indies
Gill led India from the front and began the ODI series against West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram with a magnificent 110 off 108, helping the Men in Blue chase down the target of 296 with eight wickets to spare.
Our Titans sensation carried his momentum into the second ODI and went on to produce a historic performance in Guwahati, smashing an unbeaten 223 off just 133 balls. Gill's memorable double century featured 26 boundaries and eight sixes, powering India to a remarkable chase of 406 with eight wickets to spare and 39 balls remaining.
The double century was the fastest in ODI cricket, with Gill reaching the milestone in just 117 deliveries. His outstanding performances across the first two matches proved instrumental in India’s success against the Windies and helped him secure the ICC’s monthly honour.
A record-breaking achievement for our Titans skipper
This is Gill’s fifth ICC Player of the Month award, following his previous wins in January and September 2023, and February and July 2025. The latest recognition extends his record for the most wins in the men’s category, placing him alongside West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, who has also won the award five times across the men’s and women’s categories.
Following this record-breaking feat, our Titans skipper expressed his gratitude, highlighting the satisfaction of scoring runs and contributing to successful run chases in front of home fans. For us at Gujarat Titans, this milestone is another proud moment as our skipper continues to set new benchmarks on the international stage.
