It’s not done until it’s done! And no one knows this better than our Titans. We made a claim for a place in the top four of TATA IPL 2024 with a thumping win over defending Champions Chennai Super Kings a few days ago. And now, with table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders visiting our den for our next assignment on Monday (May 13), the hunger to make a final push for a place in the TATA IPL Play-off is even greater.

The match against KKR at the Home of Gujarat Titans will be special for more than one reason. While the excitement of fighting it out for a place in the top four has hit a crescendo, the tie will also see our Titans don the lavender threads, taking a stand against cancer. We hope it serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection and access to quality care for improving outcomes in patients with cancer.

Team Talk - Mohit and his Mojo

He’s our very own silent superstar. Not one to bask in the glory of his achievements, once Mohit Sharma has the ball in his hand, he is a different beast. And things have been no different this TATA IPL season as well. Overcoming a small lean patch in form, Mohit Bhai was back at his best against CSK, accounting for Daryl Mitchell, Moeen Ali, and Shivam Dube to break the visitors’ resolve.

Apdo Haryana no hiro is our highest wicket-taker this campaign with nine of his 13 wickets so far coming at home. Mohit Bhai has a great average (18.6) at the Home of Gujarat Titans and strikes every 12 balls. Ahmedabad seems to be his favoured venue with him averaging 13.1 at our Home, the best for any bowler with 25 wickets at a venue in TATA IPL.

And guess where we play our next game…

#GTvKKR - Well begun is half done

There’s no better way to describe how crucial the opening-wicket partnership is to a team. Against defending champions Chennai Super Kings, Captain Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan gave us the perfect start as the two went berserk to put on a mammoth opening partnership of 210 runs. It was not just the highest partnership in our history, but also the joint best for the opening wicket in the history of TATA IPL.

We have run short of words to describe how glorious the Shub-Sai show was at the Home of Gujarat Titans. With both complementing each other, the CSK bowlers were left looking for options to contain their aggression. It’s this run that we will be counting on when we take on a KKR side that has the brilliance of Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Sunil Narine on the roster.

Head-to-Head

Played - 3

Won - 2

Lost - 1

It’s a match-up that’s brought the best out of our superstars. In our title-winning season, it was Rashid Khan’s man-of-the-match performance that helped us beat KKR in a closely-fought match.

Meanwhile, last year, Vijay Shankar’s half-centuries on both occasions, coupled with timely contributions from Captain Gill and Noor Ahmad saw us beat the team from the City of Joy at the Eden Garden while we fell just short against them at the Home of Gujarat Titans.
