Here’s how the game panned out at our home, the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium:
A challenging start
Our in-form openers Sudharsan and Shubman Gill got us off to a decent start. Sai Su entertained the fans with a glorious cover drive off Nitish Reddy in the second over.
Captain Gill joined the party with another boundary, before he departed in the following over.
Jos Buttler showed positive intent during his short stay and later fell to Praful Hinge in the sixth over.
Batting at No.4, our young southpaw Nishant Sindhu soon hit Hinge for two boundaries to put the pressure back on the SRH bowlers.
Sai Su shone with another fifty
Sindhu looked in great touch as he hit Reddy for the first six of our innings over deep mid-wicket. However, our third-wicket stand ended after Sindhu fell for 22 in the 10th over.
Following Sindhu’s dismissal, Sai Su and Washi steadied our innings with a crucial partnership at Gujaratno Gadh.
Meanwhile, Sai Su continued his red-hot form as he hit Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain for scintillating sixes.
Later, in the 14th over, Sai Su notched up his fifth half-century this season, and his 14th fifty in the TATA IPL.
Furthermore, Sai Su surpassed Heinrich Klaasen to claim the Orange Cap. While our southpaw became the first batter to cross the 500-run mark this season, he departed for 61 in the 17th over, laced with five fours and two maximums.
Washi’s half-century powered us to 168
In the final few overs, Washi stole the limelight as he took on the SRH pacers, including slamming Malinga for two fours and a six in the penultimate over.
While Washi brought up his half-century off just 32 balls, our Titans posted 168 on the board.
Miyan, KG rattled SRH’s top-order
Defending 168, Miyan Siraj provided us with a huge breakthrough as he dismissed Travis Head (0) in the opening over.
At the other end, Kagiso joined in as he cleaned up Abhishek Sharma for 6.
KG continued his superb spell as he then bagged the big wicket of Ishan Kishan (11) in the fourth over. Our South African speedster claimed his third wicket of the night as he removed Smaran Ravichandran (9) to reduce SRH to 32/4.
Our bowlers picked up regular wickets
SRH’s Klaasen and Salil Arora added 24 runs for the fifth wicket, before Prasidh removed Salil (16) in the 10th over.
Our bowlers continued to chip away with regular wickets as Holder dismissed Klaasen (14) and Nitish (2) in the following over.
Later, in the 13th over, Holder got the better of Shivang Kumar (4) to bag his third on the special night.
Top of the table
Our Titans wrapped up the SRH’s innings as Prasidh removed opposition captain Cummins (19), while Rashid dismissed Hinge (3) to guide us to our biggest win in terms of runs in the TATA IPL.
For his match-defining spell (3/28), Rabada was adjudged the Player of the Match in Ahmedabad.
With our fifth win on the trot, our Titans will aim to continue the winning streak against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, May 16.
