Here’s how the game unravelled at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur:

Gill and Sai Sudharsan power us to a flying start

After being put in to bat first, our opening duo of Sai Sudharsan and skipper Shubman Gill came out with positive intent and immediately put the Rajasthan bowlers under pressure.

The pair tore into the attack from the very first over and powered us to 82/0 at the end of the Powerplay. Sai Sudharsan looked fluent throughout his innings, scoring a superb 55 off just 36 deliveries, including six boundaries and two sixes.

At the other end, Gill produced another captain’s knock packed with elegance and aggression. Our skipper smashed 84 runs off only 44 balls, striking nine fours and three maximums during his scintillating innings. In the process, Gill also completed the milestone of 4000 TATA IPL runs as an opener.

Washington Sundar provides the finishing touch

With the platform firmly set, the middle order ensured the momentum never dipped. Washington Sundar played a brilliant unbeaten cameo of 37 runs to accelerate us in the death overs.

Useful contributions from Rahul Tewatia and Jos Buttler further boosted the innings as we finished with a massive 229/4 in our 20 overs.

Early breakthroughs put Royals under pressure

Defending a big total against a dangerous Rajasthan batting lineup required early wickets, and our pace attack delivered immediately.

Mohammed Siraj struck first to remove Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, while Kagiso Rabada dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal before also sending Shimron Hetmyer back early.

Those crucial breakthroughs shifted the pressure firmly onto the Royals’ middle order.

Rashid Khan weaves his magic

With the game perfectly poised, Rashid Khan stepped up and completely turned the contest in our favour with a sensational spell.

The Afghan spinner rattled the middle order by dismissing Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira in the same over before removing Shubham Dubey and Ravindra Jadeja to complete a magnificent four-wicket haul.

His spell effectively ended Rajasthan’s hopes of chasing down the target.

Holder wraps up a clinical win

As the required rate continued to climb, Jason Holder tightened the screws with disciplined short-ball bowling and clever variations.

The experienced all-rounder returned outstanding figures of 3/12, picking up the wickets of Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande as we sealed a memorable 77-run victory in Jaipur.
