Test cricket returns home as the Shubman Gill-led Indian men’s cricket team has been announced for the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies.

Sai Sudharsan, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna are the other four Titans included in India’s 15-man squad, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been named deputy to Shubman Gill in the absence of injured Rishabh Pant.

Dhruv Jurel is expected to be the main wicket-keeper, while Tamil Nadu’s N. Jagadeesan has been drafted into the squad as the second wicket-keeper.

Apart from captain Gill and our very own, Sai Su, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal are expected to play a key role in India’s batting line-up.

Our star all-rounder Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel and Jadeja are the quality all-round options in the squad.

In the bowling department, Siraj, Prasidh will feature alongside Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav will add more depth and variety to our bowling department.

As per the schedule, the first Test of the upcoming two-match Test series against the Caribbean outfit will be played at our fortress, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, starting on October 2.

The second Test is scheduled to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and his men will head into the series brimming with confidence after registering a memorable 2-2 series draw against England to share the newly rechristened Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
