The Men in Blue have stamped their authority over Afghanistan in this ongoing ODI series and currently hold a commanding 2-0 lead. Consequently, India will look to carry on their winning momentum and complete a clean sweep when they take on Afghanistan in the third ODI in Chennai on June 20 at 1:30 PM IST.
India continued their excellent form in the second ODI by dominating Afghanistan in all departments to secure a 170-run victory in Lucknow on Wednesday.
Our skipper Shubman Gill once again led from the front with a magnificent 154 off 110 and was awarded Player of the Match for the second consecutive game in the series. The victory was a special one for our Titans skipper Shubman Gill, who secured his maiden ODI series victory as India’s captain.
Put in to bat, the Men in Blue suffered an early setback as Jaiswal was dismissed in the second over. Skipper Gill joined forces with Rohit Sharma and forged an 87-run stand for the second wicket. Following Rohit's dismissal, Shubman Gill continued to dominate the Afghanistan bowling attack alongside Ishan Kishan and kept the scoreboard ticking.
As mentioned earlier, Gill was the star of the show, smashing a brilliant 154 off 110. He was well supported by Rohit Sharma's 48 off 39 and Ishan Kishan's blistering 125 off 79 as India posted a mammoth total of 402.
While defending the total, our Titans speedster Gurnoor Brar continued his impressive form by returning figures of 3/60 from his 10 overs. His crucial breakthroughs, including the wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi, played a key role in helping India secure a dominant victory.
Arshdeep Singh was the standout bowler for the Men in Blue, finishing with figures of 3/45. Debutant Prince Yadav also made a big impact, claiming two wickets, while our star all-rounder Washington Sundar chipped in with a wicket as India bundled Afghanistan out for 232 in 44.3 overs.
As we gear up for the third ODI, India have added speedster Harshit Rana to the squad to bolster their pace attack. Having produced clinical performances throughout the first two ODIs, the Men in Blue will be gunning for a series whitewash against Afghanistan on Saturday.

Ishan Kishan: The wicketkeeper-batter has showcased remarkable versatility and consistency by excelling in multiple batting positions during this series. Kishan has scored 159 runs in two innings at an impressive strike rate of 157.42. His power-hitting ability has helped India gain momentum at crucial stages. Kishan will look to continue his fine form and provide the fireworks in the third ODI against Afghanistan.
Shubman Gill: Our talismanic Captain Shubman Gill is in unstoppable form, having amassed 238 runs in the first two ODIs against Afghanistan.
