After a commanding eight-wicket win in the opening ODI, India head into the second clash against the West Indies with a chance to seal the series. The match will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on September 30, with the action beginning at 2:00 PM IST.
Our Gujarat Titans and India skipper Shubman Gill set the tone in the first ODI, winning the toss and opting to field. The West Indies posted 295/7, led by John Campbell’s 62, Justin Greaves’ 101 and Amir Jangoo’s 58.
India’s bowlers responded strongly, with Kuldeep Yadav returning 4/40, while our pacer Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets at an economy of six.
Chasing 296, our skipper Shubman Gill opened alongside Rohit Sharma before joining forces with Virat Kohli. Gill smashed 110 off 108 balls, bringing up his 10th ODI century with 13 boundaries and a six.
Kohli then produced a spectacular unbeaten 139 off 88 balls, completing 15,000 ODI runs and bringing up his 55th century in the format, as India chased down the target with eight wickets in hand.
The Windies will now look to bounce back in Guwahati, with their batters aiming to build on the first ODI while their bowling attack looks for a stronger showing.
For the Men in Blue, the objective is clear. Gill and his men will look to carry the momentum forward and seal the series with another strong performance.

Shubman Gill: Our captain Shubman Gill heads into the second ODI with 3,489 runs in 68 matches and plenty of momentum after his match-winning century in the series opener. While Gill is yet to feature in an international match in Guwahati this year, his recent form makes him one of the key players to watch as he looks to make another impact with the bat.
Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli heads into the second ODI with 15,080 runs from 315 matches and 55 centuries to his name. The King will be eager to make another big impact at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, where he has scored 253 runs in two matches, including a high score of 140. With Kohli coming off a match-winning 139* in the series opener, the Men in Maroon will have plenty to watch out for.
