1113 deliveries. 185.3 overs. 23 wickets. 2 five-wicket hauls. These are some of Mohammed Siraj’s inspirational bowling stats that our Gujarat Titans star recorded against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy earlier this month.

Under the leadership of captain Shubman Gill, Siraj not only emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded Test series, but the Titans pacer also bowled a whopping 1,113 deliveries, the most by any bowler in the series, which is a true testament to his stamina, fitness, work ethic, and love for Test cricket.

Following the conclusion of an epic five-match Test series, Siraj stood out as one of India’s standout players in the newly rechristened Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, producing lethal spells that will be remembered for ages to come. Let’s relive some of Siraj’s game-changing spells in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

6/70 at Edgbaston, Birmingham

Trailing 1-0 in the five-match Test series, Mohammed Siraj produced a sensational spell to help India bowl England out for 407 in the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham to secure a massive 180-run lead in the first innings, after the visitors posted a mammoth 587, courtesy captain Shubman Gill’s 269

After picking up the wicket of opener Zak Crawley on Day 2, Siraj ran riot in the second over on Day 3 as he dismissed Joe Root and captain Ben Stokes in consecutive deliveries to reduce the hosts to 84/5. Despite an outstanding 303-run stand between Harry Brook and wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith for the sixth wicket, Siraj removed Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue and Shoaib Bashir to wrap up England’s first innings.

Having finished with incredible figures of 6/70, Siraj became the fifth Indian fast bowler to claim a six-wicket haul against England in Test cricket after Ishant Sharma, Amar Singh, Chetan Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

2/31 at Lord's, London

Gujarat Titans bowling spearhead Mohammed Siraj delivered another impressive spell against England in the third Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

With the Lord’s Test in balance after India equalled England’s first innings score of 387, Siraj provided the visitors with an early breakthrough in the second innings as he bagged the huge wicket of England opening batter Ben Duckett. The 31-year-old, who looked in great rhythm, celebrated the dismissal with a fiery send-off. Siraj continued his brilliant spell as he soon trapped Ollie Pope in front of the stumps to reduce England to 42/2.

With the help of Siraj’s two early wickets, India put England under huge pressure, and later managed to bowl them out for 192 in 62.1 overs.

4/86 & 5/104 at Oval, London

Mohammed Siraj entered the Indian cricket folklore with his series-defining spell in the fourth innings of the fifth and final Test at the Oval to help level the five-match series 2-2.

As India needed four wickets on Day 5 to register a sensational series draw, Siraj produced a generational performance to guide the visitors to a magnificent series-levelling victory.

While England required 35 runs for a series win, Siraj struck early on the fifth day as he dismissed wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith to bring the visitors back into the game. Siraj continued his lethal spell as he later trapped Jamie Overton in front of the stumps to put India closer to a memorable victory. Having set a huge target of 374 in the fourth innings, his Titans teammate Prasidh Krishna soon castled Josh Tongue, before Siraj cleaned up Gus Atkinson with a yorker to guide India to a dramatic six-run victory.

Siraj finished with outstanding figures of 30.1-6-104-5 in the second innings to power the visitors to one of their greatest wins in Test cricket history.

Earlier, Siraj bagged the huge wickets of Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell in the first innings to end with figures of 4/86 as India restricted England to 247, after the visitors were bowled out for 224. For his match-winning performance with the ball, Siraj was adjudged the Player of the Match at the Oval.
