A new chapter in Indian cricket is about to unfold as the Gujarat Titans and Test skipper Shubman Gill takes charge of the Indian men’s cricket team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, starting October 19 in Perth.
For Indian fans, this tour is more than just another bilateral contest — it’s a test of evolution, leadership, and redemption. Five years ago, India fell agonisingly short under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, losing 2-1 on Australian soil. Now, a young and ambitious Gill steps up, armed with fresh intent and guided by Gautam Gambhir, India’s head coach.
This series marks Gill’s first major assignment as ODI captain, taking over from the ever-inspiring Rohit Sharma, who redefined India’s white-ball dominance with his fearless approach. Gill himself is in sublime form. His commanding display with the bat during the recent five-match Test series against England — which ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw — showcased his temperament, technique and leadership poise.

On the bowling front, Siraj, Prasidh, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy will form India’s pace arsenal, while spin duties rest on the shoulders of Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.
