Riding behind a fine win over Punjab Kings, we continue our journey in TATA IPL 2024 with an away match to Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday (April 24).

Placed sixth on the points table, this match will be an opportunity for us to strengthen our claim for a place in the playoffs. And with our skipper Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and the spinning trio of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, and R Sai Kishore hitting form at the right time, the Titans will be eager to take the fight to the Capitals’ side struggling at the bottom of the points table.

Team Talk - The Sai size comfort

With our Afghan twins staying true to their act in TATA IPL 2024, opportunities have been few and far between for R Sai Kishore. But the classy left-arm off-spinner from Tamil Nadu didn’t need a second bite at the cherry, as he produced his best performance in TATA IPL with a 4-33 against the Punjab Kings a few nights ago.

Despite the limited chances, Sai has proved his worth when called upon and is among the top spin bowlers in the league. He has the best bowling average (14.2) and strike rate (11.0) among spinners, having bowled a minimum of 10 overs in TATA IPL 2024, and is the best Indian spinner in T20s since 2018 with 69 wickets at an average of 17.7.

For the man who led Tamil Nadu to a Ranji Trophy semi-finals for the first time since 2016–17, a solid run in TATA IPL further attests to the quality he possesses.

#DCvGT- Too close to call

It’s a fixture that has swung both ways in the past. While there’s barely anything to choose between the two teams on the head-to-head count, our encounters with Delhi Capitals have often lived up to the billing.

For us, the last match was the one to forget. But in the past, we have had our moments. In our debut season, we beat DC by six wickets. Last year, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, we squeezed home a win with 11 balls to spare, but at the Home of Gujarat Titans, the team from the national capital came on top in the final over of the tie.

Head-to-Head

Played - 4

Won - 2

Loss  - 2

The last time we played the Delhi Capitals, it was a night that saw us register our lowest score in TATA IPL. But how the team bounced back with an emphatic win over Punjab Kings, should give Gill and Co. enough confidence going into a crucial run of games in the league.
