Our Titans made it two wins on the trot, and our fifth victory in the TATA IPL 2026 as we delivered a clinical performance to beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets at our home on Thursday, April 30.

After captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field, our bowlers put on a bowling masterclass to help us bowl out RCB for 155 in 19.2 overs.

Left-arm pacer Arshad Khan was our standout bowler with figures of 3/22, while our West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder and spin wizard Rashid Khan bagged two wickets apiece. Our bowling spearhead Mohammed Siraj and speedster Kagiso Rabada also chipped in with a wicket each.

In reply, captain Gill (43), Jos Buttler (39) and Rahul Tewatia (27 not out) shone with the bat to guide us to a four-wicket win in Ahmedabad. Here’s how the game panned out at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium:

Miyan, KG struck early

Our bowlers got us off to a brilliant start in front of a jam-packed crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Miyan Siraj provided us with an early breakthrough as he dismissed Jacob Bethell (5) in the third over.

In the following over, Kagiso bagged the massive wicket of Virat Kohli (28), courtesy of a superb catch by Rashid to reduce RCB to 35/2.

Our bowlers ripped through RCB’s middle order

RCB’s Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar added 44 runs for the third wicket, before Arshad got the better of Rajat (19) with the help of a stunning catch by Holder.

After his heroics on the field, Holder removed RCB’s wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma (1) in the very next over.

Our bowlers continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals as Rashid dismissed Tim David (9), while Arshad ousted Krunal Pandya (4). Interestingly, Holder stole the limelight with his safe pair of hands in both dismissals.

Struggling at 96/6, Romario Shepherd and Padikkal forged a 30-run partnership before Rashid bamboozled Padikkal (40) to claim his second wicket of the night.

Meanwhile, RCB brought in Venkatesh Iyer as their impact sub in place of Bethell.

Titans restricted RCB to 155

At the other end, Shepherd soon perished as he fell to Holder in the 15th over.

In the final few overs, Venkatesh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar stitched a decent partnership to power RCB past 150.

However, our bowlers continued to chip away with regular wickets as Arshad removed Venkatesh (12), while captain Gill pulled off a brilliant run out of Josh Hazlewood (0) to help us bowl out RCB for 155.

Gill-Buttler show in the Powerplay

Chasing a modest target, our dynamic opening duo of Sai Su and skipper Gill got us off to a blistering start. Gill led from the front as he slammed Josh Hazlewood for three fours and two sixes to amass 24 runs in the second over.

However, our brilliant 42-run stand came to an end as Sai Su fell in the third over.

Batting at No.3, Buttler took little time to settle as he hit Hazlewood for a maximum to bring our team’s fifty in just four overs. Looking to continue the momentum, Gill departed for a well-made 43, featuring four fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Gill recorded 100 sixes for the Titans in the TATA IPL.

Tewatia-Holder stitched a vital partnership

At the other end, Buttler then hit Hazlewood for a four and a six as we raced to 69/2 in the first six overs. Jos the Boss continued the momentum as he hit Suyash Sharma for back-to-back sixes before he fell for 39 in the eighth over.

Washington Sundar and Shahrukh Khan hit a couple of boundaries before both our batters departed in quick succession.

Despite losing two quick wickets, Holder and Rahul Tewatia took on Shepherd and Suyash to put the pressure back on the RCB bowlers. Our duo added 30 runs for the sixth wicket before Holder fell in the 14th over.

Our fifth win in the TATA IPL 2026

From thereon, Tewatia (27 not out) and Rashid Khan (7 not out) played sensibly to help us chase down the required target in just 15.5 overs.

With another clinical win under our belt, we have further strengthened our Playoffs bid as we are currently placed fifth on the TATA IPL 2026 standings with 10 points from nine games.

For his all-round performance, Holder was adjudged the Player of the Match.

“Just happy to hold on to the chances and happy to help the team win. The way this franchise operates is very nice,” Holder said at the post-match presentation.

What's next for the Titans?

Our Titans will aim to continue the winning streak against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, May 3.
