Walking out to bat at No. 7 with Black Caps in a spot of bother, the Kiwi all-rounder joined forces with Tom Blundell to steady the ship. Phillips launched a brilliant counter-attack and put pressure on the English bowlers. The pair stitched a crucial partnership of 75 before the departure of Blundell.

Following Blundell's dismissal, Phillips displayed remarkable determination and composure against England's fiery pace attack. Our Titans all-rounder also weathered the short-ball barrage from Jofra Archer and showcased tremendous courage after being struck on the helmet multiple times.

The battle between Archer and Phillips produced a thrilling contest that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. During this innings, Phillips also showcased his quirky personality by sporting a pair of sunglasses while batting against the English quicks. At the end of Day 1, Phillips ended unbeaten on 49 and New Zealand scored 291/7.

On Day 2, Glenn Phillips resumed from where he had left off and took the English bowlers to the cleaners. Supported by Kyle Jamieson and the lower order, the Titans all-rounder smashed a sensational 100 off just 135 deliveries. This was his maiden Test century for the Black Caps, and it came at a crucial juncture of the Test match.
