Shubman Gill welcomed the year 2023 with a scintillating performance through the month of January and gave the Indian fans a lot to cheer. Playing for the Men in Blue, our Titan was a treat to watch against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, particularly in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

Shubman showed great composure opening the batting for India in ODIs. The opener is certainly living up to the potential everyone saw in him during his U-19 days! The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken note of our Titan’s strides and has awarded him the ICC Player Of The Month for January, an honor and achievement we take so much pride in.

Cricket fans across the globe witnessed Shubman's scintillating knocks in ODIs last month, and he has been rewarded with this honor by cricket’s governing body. The 23-year-old played every shot in the book, smashing 567 runs in six ODIs, with three centuries. The highest of highs in all of this was a knock of 208 against the formidable Kiwis. Shubman became the fifth Indian to score a double-century in ODI cricket.

"January was a special month for me and winning this award makes it all the more memorable. It is always heartening to be recognised for your performances, and I will take great confidence from these innings, especially as we head into an extremely important period prior to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup on home soil," Gill said in an ICC release. Shubman then started February with a blockbuster - his first T20 International century against New Zealand at our Home Stadium.

With all eyes on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at home this year, the Indian team is keen to repeat the heroics of 2011. Shubman’s great form bodes well for the Indian team in such a crucial time.

As always, we wish Shubman the best for the year ahead! Runs and centuries, Aava de!
