India's captain Shubman Gill has been the leading run-scorer in the ongoing series with 607 runs, while pacer Mohammed Siraj has bagged the most wickets with 13 scalps.
The Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team will look to bounce back against England in the fourth Test of the newly-rechristened Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford in Manchester, starting on Wednesday, July 23.
After failing to capitalise on commanding positions, India will head into a must-win game as they succumbed to a heartbreaking 22-run defeat at the Lord’s in London, to lag 2-1 behind in the ongoing five-match Test series.
Earlier, England won the first Test by five wickets at Headingley in Leeds, before India scripted a historic win at Edgbaston in Birmingham to level the series.
With an aim to level the Test series, Shubman Gill and his men will need to end an 89-year-old jinx, as India have never won a Test match in Manchester.
Under the captaincy of Maharajah of Vizianagram, India played their first Test match at Old Trafford against England in July 1936. The match ended in a draw.
Since then, India have played a total of nine Test matches at Old Trafford, registering four defeats and five draws.
Ahead of the crucial fourth Test, the visitors are grappling with a spate of injuries.
All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests due to a left knee injury. India will also miss the services of their star fast bowler Akash Deep due to a groin injury.
Furthermore, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will also be unavailable for selection after sustaining an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets at a training session in Beckenham.
With multiple injury concerns, Anshul Kamboj, the 24-year-old right-arm seamer from Haryana, has been included in the squad as injury cover.
Gujarat Titans duo of Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna are the other options who could be drafted in India’s playing XI.
On the other hand, the Ben Stokes-led England have announced one change to their playing XI for the fourth Test.
Veteran all-rounder Liam Dawson has replaced Shoaib Bashir, who has been ruled out of the series after fracturing his finger. Left-arm spinner Dawson will make his first Test appearance since July 2017.
Meanwhile, India's captain Shubman Gill has been the leading run-scorer in the ongoing Test series with 607 runs, while star pacer Mohammed Siraj has picked up the most wickets with 13 scalps to his name.
