Not often do we come across days like these, when the team picks up a win from the jaws of defeat. Our Titans pulled off a terrific comeback at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium against Lucknow Super Giants, helping us clinch our fourth win of the tournament so far.

The match also saw Jayant Yadav make his debut for us in the second innings, when he entered the field as our Impact Player. He chipped in with a wonderful four-over spell, conceding only 26 runs. He said after the match that the team’s plan was to keep things simple.

“Our plan was simple, to increase the number of dot balls and reduce the number of boundaries we concede,” Jayant Yadav said in the post-match press conference.

“You never know what happens in a match like this and the pitch too was on the slower side. The thought process was to take the game into the final two overs and anything can happen from there.”

Defending a total of 136, Lucknow got off to a good start in the powerplay, but once Rashid Khan provided our first breakthrough, we were right back in the mix.

“We thought we were a few runs short and the start LSG got in the run chase, it was a tough situation. But in the dressing room and on the field, the conversation was all about having the belief. We just had to back ourselves and one wicket here and there, we were in it,” Jayant added.

Talking about his strategy while bowling to the right-handed batters, “As a spinner, if I am bowling to a right-handed batter, I would prefer the leg-side to be the longer boundary. But the situation was such that we weren’t thinking of boundaries, we were just focusing on bowling dot balls.”

Jayant went on to emphasize the importance of winning matches like these in a long tournament.

“When you win such close matches, it boosts the morale of the bowling unit and the whole team. We get a sense of belief that we can win from any position and the way our bowlers defended this target, that is a huge bonus for the team,” Jayant explained.

Our Titans will return home for a scorcher of a fixture against Mumbai Indians on April 25.
