It’s not what we had hoped for, but there are things beyond our control. Incessant lightning and bad weather had the final say on Monday (May 13) as it forced our crucial TATA IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders to be called off without a ball being bowled at the Home of Gujarat Titans.

Though there were moments when it looked like we would see our Titans out on the field fighting it out for a place in the TATA IPL Playoff, the weather never allowed the covers to come off. The abandonment means our run in this year’s competition will draw to a close after our final group stage match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday.

Our dominating show in our previous home game showed what our Titans are capable of producing. While we were hoping for more of the same tonight, it was not to be as the weather had the final say.

However, beyond the field, the match’s Lavender jersey initiative was also a means for raising awareness around the early detection and access to better healthcare for those fighting cancer. The two captains met in the middle to highlight this cause and were presented with Lavender ribbons to commemorate the occasion.
