With the series already sealed, India head into the fourth T20I against New Zealand holding a commanding 3-0 lead. The contest will take place at the iconic Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on January 28.

In the previous match, the Black Caps were asked to bat first and found themselves under pressure early on.

Their openers fell cheaply against a relentless Indian bowling attack, but Glenn Phillips showed resilience, anchoring the innings with a gritty 48 off 40 deliveries. Mark Chapman (32 off 23) and skipper Mitchell Santner (27 off 17) chipped in with useful contributions, though momentum remained hard to come by.

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout with the ball for the hosts, tearing through New Zealand’s batting line-up with a fiery three-wicket haul while conceding runs at an impressive economy of just 4.25.

He was well supported by Ravi Bishnoi (2/18), Hardik Pandya (2/28) and Harshit Rana (1/35) as India restricted the visitors to 153/9 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 154, India suffered an early jolt when Matt Henry removed Sanju Samson off the very first ball. However, Abhishek Sharma quickly turned the game on its head with a blistering unbeaten 68 off just 20 balls, leaving the New Zealand bowlers searching for answers.

Suryakumar Yadav continued his fine form with his second successive T20I half-century, as India cruised to victory in just 10 overs.

Having already clinched the series, India will look to build further momentum ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The defending champions will be eager to register a fourth consecutive win when they take the field in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

This will be the fifth T20 International hosted at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. The venue last witnessed a T20I in November 2023, when India edged past Australia in a thrilling two-wicket win.

Players to watch out for

Abhishek Sharma: The dynamic Indian opener set the stadium ablaze yet again with his fearless hitting in the previous match. His blistering unbeaten 68 off just 20 deliveries laced with seven boundaries and five towering sixes at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 340, left fans spellbound. Reaching his half-century in just 14 balls, he became only the second Indian to register one of the fastest T20I fifties.

Jasprit Bumrah: The talismanic Indian pacer returned to peak form in his second outing of the series, dismantling New Zealand with figures of 3/17. With his pace, swing variations and the presence of dew in Vizag, Bumrah could be primed to add further wickets to his tally.
