Day 3 of the Paris Olympics was packed with excitement and close contests for Indian athletes across various sports.
In Badminton, the men’s doubles match between Satwiksairaj Reddy-Chirag Shetty and Germany’s Mark Lamfuss-Marvin Seidel was canceled due to Lamfuss's knee injury. They will next face Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto. Satwiksairaj and Chirag advanced to the quarter-finals after Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar lost to the Indonesian pair.
Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida in the women’s doubles Group C match. Lakshya Sen defeated Belgian shuttler Julien Carragi 21-19, 21-14 at the La Chappelle Arena. His previous match against Kevin Cordon was canceled due to Cordon’s injury.

In Shooting, Ramita Jindal finished seventh in the Women’s 10m air rifle final. She was in medal contention until her tenth shot, scoring 9.7, which dropped her to seventh. She lost a shoot-off against France’s Oceanne Miller. Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh qualified for the Bronze Medal match in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, shooting 580 to finish third, ahead of Korea’s Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho.

Arjun Babuta finished fourth in the Men’s 10m air rifle final, scoring 208.4. He was in contention for a medal until his final shot of 9.5. Prithviraj Tondaiman, the only Indian in the Trap Qualification event, ranked 30th.

In Hockey, India’s Men’s team secured a late draw against Argentina, thanks to captain Harmanpreet Singh’s penalty corner goal in the penultimate minute. India are currently third in Pool B.

In Archery, the Men’s team, featuring Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav, had a tough day, losing 6-2 to Turkey in the quarter-finals.
In Table Tennis, Manika Batra made history by becoming the first Indian player to reach the Round of 16 in the Olympics. She achieved this milestone by defeating French player Prithika Pavade with scores of 11-9, 11-6, 11-9, and 11-7.
