In pursuit of our ninth win of the 2023 campaign, we travel to the west coast to lock horns against the Mumbai Indians. Not just that, there is more at store for the Gujarat Titans in this fixture, as a victory here could help us seal our position in the TATA IPL 2023 playoffs.

It was a hectic schedule for our players last week, playing three games in a space of six days. We emerged victorious in two of these three matches.

In our last match, our batting department went hell for leather under the scorching heat in Ahmedabad against Lucknow Super Giants and they will be brimming with confidence. Heading to Wankhede, a ground more favourable for batters historically, our batting department required that much-needed boost.

Not to forget, we won three of the four matches we played at this ground last season, which includes our historic debut clash against LSG and that final-ball thriller against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

However, to face the Mumbai Indians in front of their home support will bring its own challenges, but Hardik Pandya and his troops will have their plans well sorted before taking the field.

Peak into the opponent’s camp

The Mumbai Indians are in terrific form after a slow start to the tournament. Their batting department has produced some stellar performances, most recently against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday. They currently occupy the third spot in the TATA IPL points table with 12 points, but aren’t far away from the chasing pack.

Titan to watch out for

While Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami continue to remain our chief wicket-takers this season, Mohit Sharma has been sensational as well. After winning the Player of the Match on his GT debut against Punjab Kings, Sharma has chipped in with many vital spells in the middle overs. He picked up four wickets in our last outing against LSG, taking his tally in TATA IPL 2023 to 12 wickets in eight matches at a splendid economy of 6.96.

Key numbers

Rashid Khan, who picked up 19 wickets last season for us, has already picked up as many wickets in only 11 matches. He currently leads the wicket-takers list for TATA IPL 2023 in the company of Mohammad Shami.

Shubman Gill requires 48 runs to complete 1,000 TATA IPL runs for Gujarat Titans.

Wriddhiman Saha scored 54 off 23 deliveries in the powerplay against Lucknow Super Giants, the most runs scored in the field-restricted overs this season.
