It was a roaring return to the Home Stadium for Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill as he scripted a beautiful hundred in front of a large crowd. The last time Shubman played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad – he essayed a responsible knock to take Gujarat Titans home to a memorable victory in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Against New Zealand in the third T20 International, he smashed his maiden century in the format. In the process, he became the fifth Indian to score a century in all formats of the game – joining the likes of Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.

Shubman’s form has been a talk of the town since the year 2022. He was earmarked for big things when he helped India win the ICC under-19 World Cup 2018 and is now living up to that by showing great consistency at the highest level. In Zimbabwe last year, he bagged his maiden One-Day International (ODI) century. On the tour to Bangladesh, Shubman got his first century in Test cricket. The double-century in the ODI against New Zealand signified his hunger for getting a big score!

What made Shubman’s latest innings most special was that it came at the Home of the Titans. To top it all, captain Hardik Pandya was at the other end when he achieved his milestone. The duo had stitched together an important 63-run stand in the Tata IPL Final 2022 to take Gujarat Titans to victory. This time, they added 103 runs in tandem to post a big score against New Zealand.

In a series decider, Shubman rose to the occasion and produced a characteristically beautiful innings – full of classy shots. The fans gave him a rousing reception as he walked back to the dressing room a happy man! We can certainly say – “Centuries, Aava De!”
