It’s a city with tales of a love story between a commoner and a king. The original home to the Kohinoor, and of course, some lip-smacking biryani. Miya, Hyderabad ki baat hi kuch khaas hai. But on Thursday (May 16), all this reverence will take a back seat as we will look to wrap up our TATA IPL 2024 campaign on a winning note against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

This season we were thrown a new challenge. With a new leader – Shubman Gill – at the helm, we embarked on our TATA IPL journey with renewed vigour and hunger. And though the team stuck together and faced every hurdle with determination, it was not to be. Against SRH, our only aim will be to end the season on a high.

Team Talk - A season of many stars

TATA IPL 2024 has seen several players from our line-up stand up and deliver. While Captain Gill and Sai Sudharsan have been the undisputed leaders at the top of the innings, we have also seen the others take the onus of pushing the team ahead.

Be it the experience of Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, and David Miller that led us at crucial junctures, or Sai Kishore’s match-winning spell of 4-33 against the Punjab Kings in Chandigarh, or even the likes of Spencer Johnson, Josh Little, and Noor Ahmad stepping up when needed, our Titans took on TATA IPL 2024 as a unit.

#SRHvGT - One for all…

This combined effort was also visible when SRH visited the Home of Gujarat Titans early in the season. Up against the early pacesetters, our Titans stuck to the task to record a win by seven wickets.

Our Afghan spin duo, Noor bhai and Rashid bhai, along with Mohit Sharma stood out with the ball as they stifled the big-hitting Hyderabad batters to a below-par 168.  Later, it was Sai Su and Agent Miller who delivered the killing blow with ease. With a lot riding on the match for SRH, we will be eager to pull off another such performance at Uppal.

Head To Head

Played - 4

Won - 3

Lost - 1

It’s an opponent we have enjoyed facing in our short time in TATA IPL. Except for the opening loss in 2022, we have come out on top every time we have faced SRH. Be it the high-scoring match at the Wankhede stadium in 2022 where Wriddhiman Saha hurt the SRH resolve with a stylish half-century, or last year when Shubman Gill hammered a century against the SRH bowling attack, matches against the team from Hyderabad are filled with happy memories for us.
